Providing 911 ambulance service to the towns of Richmond, Bolton, Huntington and southern Jericho since 1971

Doug - helmetRichmond Rescue provides 911 ambulance service to the towns of Richmond, Bolton, Huntington and southern Jericho. We are a 501(c)3 non-profit in business since 1971. Our funding comes from a variety of sources: about half from billing our patients, a third from town contributions and the remainder from donations, grants, CPR training and investments.

Each year we go on about 600 calls and transport 400 patients. Calls range in severity from minor orthopedic injuries to cardiac arrest and multi-trauma. We operate an a paramedic level. This gives us the ability to insert IVs and breathing tubes, give a variety of medications and have access to equipment and monitoring devices that can help a critically ill patient.

We have 40 active volunteers, 3 full times staff and a few part time employees. Volunteers donate more than 25,000 hours of time each year while our paid staff only work about 5000 hours a year. All of our crews are stationed in quarters while they are on duty. This leads to us getting an ambulance on the road to an emergency in about one and a half minutes. 80s amb crew

Aside from providing ambulance service we are active in our community in a number of health improvement initiatives. We have placed and maintain 10 Automated External Difibrillators (AEDs) to shorten the time to defibrillation in cardiac arrest. We have also given away over 250 bike helments to kids in our community. Each year we check nearly 50 car seats for safety and give away a handful of seats to low income Vermonters that qualify.

To learn more about us and to see all of our equipment stop by the station for a tour from one of our volunteers. We're always here and love to talk to community members.
